The aftermath of the Implosion
We here at Lenovo Construction are very proud of our team leading the successful demolition of the Crystal Palace Resort. However, there are two very important companies that assisted with the demo to make it a success. They are ASI & Fabio Bruno Construction:
ASI – Applied Science International
ASI was the engineering company that we hired to review the site and demolition plan to produce reports and simulations. They researched the property and interpreted soil analysis reports, contacted local weather reporting systems to track historical data for prevailing wind and weather patterns, and they worked with Fabio Bruno Construction to implement a blasting plan. The end results of their work generated:
A dust analysis that demonstrated dust migration in volume (ppm) and distance that it will travel before dissipating, based on prevailing winds.
Ground vibration analysis that estimates the vibration caused by impact of the collapse of the structure.
Noise analysis report based on the volume of explosives, quantities of explosive being simultaneously detonated and the sound generated from structural collapse.
3D simulations that predict the manner in which the structures will collapse based on location and detonation sequencing of explosives.
Their reports are science based predictions and the net result showed that their reports passed with an extremely high degree of accuracy. Below is the simulation video and below the video simulation is the actual implosion. As we said; pretty darn accurate!
Fabio Bruno Construction Demolition
Fabio and his team were responsible for creating the implosion plan. This is the essential information that is fed to ASI to generate simulations. The plan is run in multiple scenarios until the collapse of the structures are occurring with the desired result.
Hi operators wasted no time. Within 1 hour of the building implosion the heavy equipment was dispatched to start processing the rubble. Within 10 weeks, the 3 collapsed towers were cleaned up, and concrete recycled. The casino, and lowrise outlying structures were demolished. From a collapse on Oct 01 to a clean site with a stockpile of 30,000 cubic yards of recycled concrete turned to gravel on December 10th.
Here’s a photo gallery of some of the crews involved:
Here’s a photo gallery of the clean up. As mentioned above, it’s been a straight 2 months to get the site clean and ready for the next project!
